Black Ops Colonel who traveled to East Germany with his unit (including Jack O'Neill, then a captain, Charles Kawalsky and Thomas) to capture a Russian agent code-named "Boris". The mission was foul from the beginning, the intelligence was incorrect about registering no sniper activity, but a sniper on the roof of Boris's safe house shot and killed Michaels.
Before his death, John asked that O'Neill take care of his wife, Barbara.
